REVIEW:

This new silver DVD presents two Pro Shot concerts of the great late Bo Diddley that were recently the subject of a similar product issued in Japan as DVD-R, together with Ronnie Wood after their World Tour 22 years ago. The first one comes from the Ritz in New York and was broadcast live by Westwood One Radio, it came out officially on album and CD, but having been filmed too is here presented with a good video and stereo soundtrack.

The second show from Tokyo 88 was recorded for Super Live and broadcast later that summer in Japan and presents a much better picture, the show is longer and interspersed with short interviews of Bo and Ron. Both concerts have Bo Diddley's band start, then Bo himself comes in and plays some of his hits, then it is Ron Wood to show up accompanying him; in the middle of the show there is a medley of Faces/solo recordings played only by Wood and then when Bo comes back the grande finale. A nice couple of broadcasts that help celebrate the great man's legacy; this release however has extra stuff from UK TV: the South Bank Show from late December 2004, a very good 50 minutes show with a frank Ron Wood interview by Melvyn Bragg and great footage including paintings exhibition followed by Ron's guest appearance with the Charlatans in early December of the same year for the Hero 2 Hero program. The DVD flows nicely, however the introduction screen doesn't and seems to be stuck, you just have to select play skipping the intro.
